Hair loss can be a great damper on your self-esteem. This is even more serious when your hair loss progresses to a proper bald head. You have probably made jokes about such people before but now that you are going through it, it doesn’t feel so good.
Scalp micropigmentation is great a way to create the illusion that your head of hair is intact, you just took a trip to the barber to remain fresh and swanky. As much as you can fool the people around you, your own body will continue with its normal processes.
The result; a shining head.
What can you do?
The cause of a shining bald head.
You have probably heard the jokes, or even told them, of a bald head acting as a secondary light source under the glare of the sun. This is because of the shine that is visible on the head and is characteristic of bald people.
The shine on your head is a result of a natural process. As hair follicles develop, there are always sebaceous glands around them. Sebum is a natural oil that the body uses to create a barrier against moisture on the skin, or in this case, the scalp.
This sebum is usually a mixture of very many different products like waxes, cholesterol, fatty acids and others.
As your hair follicles die off, the sebaceous glands remain active. Typically, you would not see all the oil on your scalp under the hair that is on the head, but now that there is none, it becomes evident.
Dealing with the shine on the head.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, there is no way to stop the sebaceous glands to do the job that it is supposed to do. However, there are ways to work around the issue. Sebum does not accumulate in one go, it takes time.
Washing.
So, the first thing you should do is to wash your scalp. Many people feel that since there is no hair on the head, there is no need to wash it. If you have already done scalp micropigmentation, imagine how this will look with all the shine on your head?
Washing the scalp helps to minimise the amount of sebum on it. There are also a variety of products made specifically to help keep the shine off but it takes finding the right one.
Wiping off excess moisture.
Moisture can get on your head in a variety of ways. If you are a gym or cardio bro, then you are probably familiar with this natural phenomenon known as sweat. As you put in your reps or work to complete your steps, your head will break into a sweat. This is a great medium for increasing the shine on the head.
You could also just have experienced some light drizzling outside and thought this wasn’t a big deal for you. While the rest of your body was kept dry by your clothes, your head will still develop the shine.
If you have had scalp micropigmentation recently done, you need to follow the proper care procedures.
